Suggested subject: "What Does the Monster Under Your Bed Look Like?"
The only thing under my bed are mountains of unsold canvases and their pets, the dust bunnies. Pretty scary but unworthy of more attention at the moment. Instead, I decided to pay homage to an artist I admire, Ralph Steadman, for his uncompromising and irreverent cartoons. Duly, I set out in his style to spatter and scrape, and then mold the ensuing mess into some sort of creature. But then, the inevitable epiphany... my personal monster has no particular shape! It's name is Doubt and it's strengths are tenacity and cunning. A worthy adversary and I think I may have done it justice. Acrylic on Terraskin paper, approximately 17½" x 8".
