THIRTY DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE Day 22 - January 23

Suggested subject: "Fruit, Using Crosshatching"
Hmmm... a quick look in the fruit basket revealed half of a mature banana and three oranges looking so boring that one might juggle them in aid of insomnia. What to do? Turn to Google of course! Apparently a fruit, botanically defined, is a ripened flower ovary and contains seeds. I don't know where Fruit of the Loom fits into that, but these are rosehips, snipped from my garden this morning and placed in one of the plethora of empty wine bottles that seem to breed under the floorboards somewhere.
The added challenge here was that I decided, in aid of learning something new, that I would use my virgin India ink brush-pen to do the crosshatching. Somewhat different than a regular brush, and definitely alien to the usual pen-rendered crosshatching I've grown to know and love. I can't say I don't need more practise but it's less objectionable under a layer of watercolour! Rendered on watercolour paper; approximately 7" x 14½".
