THIRTY DAY DRAWING CHALLENGE Day 28 - January 29

Suggested subject: "A Fish or Person Using Gesture Drawing"
Sheesh. This thing is like bootcamp. Don't they give holidays? Day #28 (and I sheepishly must admit that although I did a trial run on a new technique this morning, in the hopes that it would fit the bill; it failed miserably) so we're back to the traditional and minimally time-consuming "Gesture Drawing" with unfortunately, no fish. I know a fish or a person was suggested and I almost went for some photos I took a couple of summers ago with two little boys fishing, but in the end it was this very young highland dancer, so earnestly performing the Scottish Sword Dance at the local agricultural fair, that spoke to me. As always, I like to bend the rules so I there in a bit of gestural watercolour for effect. In retrospect, there are some places I could have been more accurate but I think it gives the flavour of the day: a little girl, showing up and doing her best in front of a sparse audience; Mom and Dad no doubt clapping most loudly and with the most love. And me, just happy I got to take home the memory and the beauty and the innocence of the moment. Lumocolor, conté and watercolour on hot-press paper; approximately 9¼" square.

I'm looking to raise a few dollars for the local Arts Council (Facebook #cv30ddc2020), so if it takes your fancy, I'll be offering this and all ensuing 30-day drawings for auction on my home Facebook page, @sandralambartwork; starting bid $15 (cheap!!!).
If you would like to bid on this piece you must do so through Facebook at my page so click here: sandralambartwork. Bids are open for one week after each drawing is posted and I will do a regular recap of posted bids in case I miss someone.
